Why Choose a Steel Garage?
by Rob Schneider | homeimprovementpages.com.au
Why choose a metal garage instead of a more traditional brick or timber garage? If you are building a new home and your garage is integrated into your home design, it is not an issue, but if you are building or renovating and want a detached garage, a steel garage is definitely worth looking into. Here are 5 reasons why:
- Steel garages are cost-effective: Factory made steel garages require less time and labour to erect and can be far less expensive than custom designed and built garages.
- Steel garages can be customised: Even kit-style steel garages are customisable. Choose the cladding or colour of your choice and add on windows, sliding glass doors, awnings and other inclusions to suit your needs. If you choose a custom-designed garage, your choices are only limited by your imagination.
- Steel garages are durable: Non-corrosive steel framework and Zincalume or Colorbond cladding and roofing ensure that your steel garage is made to last.
- Steel garages are stylish: New designs, colours and materials make today’s steel garages a stylish alternative to traditional garages. If you want to make your steel garage match your home design, choose an optional cladding on a steel frame.
- Steel garages are low-maintenance: You will never have to repaint your steel garage. You may want to hose down the exterior occasionally, but even that is rarely necessary.
These are just some of the more obvious reasons for choosing a steel garage. If you expand the definition of “garage” beyond that of simply being a place to park your car, you’ll find even more reasons to choose a steel garage. For example, many garages do double or triple time as storage rooms and/or workshops. A typical garage can become filled with so many tools, equipment, bicycles, surfboards and bric-a-brac, there’s little or no room left to work or even park the car. The simple and inexpensive solution to problems like these is a steel garage:
- Erect a steel storage shed behind or alongside your existing garage to house all your garden tools and sports equipment.
- A single car steel garage with side and rear windows makes an ideal home workshop. For even more natural lighting, have a skylight installed.
- Install a sliding glass door instead of a garage door and use your steel garage as a spacious, private home office.
- Add interior lining and plumbing and your steel garage can be used as a guest room.
If you’re still in doubt, it’s probably because you haven’t yet seen the full range of steel garage designs that are available today. Find a steel garage builder in your area and have a look at their portfolio. Then you won’t need to ask, “Why choose a steel garage?” The answer will be obvious.
